identifying fur

  1. any help with an id would be appreciated - the material is hairy, coarse & lays flat. it sheds slightly? short hairs

  3. Its lined, cannot see the reverse. Is it genuine leopard or possibly stencil calf hair?

    it's not in my hand , so I can't be 100% certain......
    but a stencil would repeat itself.......i don't see that.

    where'd u get it
    how long u had it
    how large is it...

    Whichever one it is, if it's real -and it looks like it is-, I don't believe you can legally sell it. (If that was your intention.)

    It does look pieced together which would lead one to believe it's genuine leopard, but scraps.

    Ocelot pattern is more streched out and linear ....

    Leopard. I have a jacket that was my mother's which has a leopard collar. She had it made in the late 40s. It does feel slightly coarse, with a soft undercoat. You can't sell it.

    Agree leopard scrap and unsalable. Some natural history museums will accept leopard as a donation for educational purposes.
