ok I think it is a double shot glass, it has a mark, could it be 75 or is it hallmark of some sort? It is 4 1/2" tall. Thanks for looking! doubleshot.jpg doubleshot3.jpg doubleshot2.jpg

It is a drinks measure. The mark could be the volume.

Did she or he say what it says, and give a period for the writing style? Because that would be nice to know, to get the whole picture, etc.

Lovely, enjoy your time with your grandson.

Yes, it is Anglo-Indian, so made during the colonial period in British India. Colonial silver in general, and Anglo-Indian in particular, is very collectible.
I like the colonial with the gun, but I am glad the tigers are on the other side, so he can't shoot them.;)
I have a list somewhere with examples of the different styles from the different regions. If I find anything, I will let you know. Some styles look alike though, due to artisans travelling and settling in other regions.

Found the style. Hunting scenes with those particular trees and a stippled background were made mostly in Lucknow, in Uttar Pradesh, northern India, just south of Nepal.
