Help with Sugar Tongs Please (Again)

    I have another pair of English sugar tongs that I'm curious about the marks. I've been over to the 925 site but I'm a numpty where the marks are concerned. I think they might be plate, but don't really know. They measure 6" long. THNX!

    It's very similar! At least the middle 3 are exactly the same. Thanks, sis -- the last 2 initials on these tongs looks like BP to me. I wonder what all of the other symbols mean.

    BP stands for Britannia plate, meaning that the base metal is the pewter-like alloy called britannia.

    Many "odd" symbols show up in the maker's marks on UK silver plate. If they had any "meaning" it was only known to the maker. Since makers of silverplate were not "registered" by any official body, they also changed up their marks over time without needing to tell anyone.
