I think this may be a 19th century English jug or pitcher, but I could be wrong, too. It's 5 5/8" tall, has a stippled background and what I think is some sort of tassel pattern. Gold trim on the rim is gone. The bottom is glazed and unmarked except for a blurred blue letter or numbers and a small impressed circle off to the side.

    Thanks for your help!

My WAG would be German. It looks like their style of stoneware. Markings, or lack thereof, too.

    Agreed. German or Luxembourg.

Thanks for your input! I'd discounted German because of the shiny glaze--most German pieces I've seen with this "look" are salt glaze stoneware with a rather dull or matte finish, grayish, and they're heavy. This piece is relatively light weight, white with a slight blue hue, and not salt glaze. I don't have a lot of expertise in this area, though.

Can't help with an ID but wanted to let you know I love the puppy in your picture. Is he/she a Schnauzer?

Yes, he's a Schnauzer! His name is Abu (my husband collects Abu Garcia fishing reels). We also have a female named Annie. They're great dogs--smart, loyal, and they don't shed or smell, though they do have an ear-piercing bark.

We've had three schnauzers so far and now a senior schnauzer mix. They've all been great pups! Don
