The first one is my favorite with bear claws (?) I think those are bear claws?
    I cannot find any markings?
The second one has wear and I've never seen such a strange back before, looks made from a soda can, but I know it's not. Anyone know about these please? bearclaw1a.jpeg bearclaw1b.jpeg doublediamond1a.jpeg doublediamond1b.jpeg

I like the first one too. May be an Eagle or Owl claw? Is the red piece coral? Looking at the close-up I'm wondering if it is some kind of coloured paste???

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

@antidiem, I know it would be weird to have a mark on the front, but is inside my circle anything???

yup, bear claw , branch coral and Turq.......could be Navajo...

I've seen my share of bolo ties ...where the hardware has covered up an honest signature ....
never seen a siggy on the front though......

Oh! It looks like a BEAR CLAW to me. It has red coral. Nothing paste, thanks.

I think that's the problem in this case. The closest piece of jewelry I could find to this one has the initials "AT" (well I think that's what they are) - please take a look at this, Komo, do you know the name of a Navajo artist with these initials?

Does anyone have any ideas for me to research further?
This is the front of the pendant marked "AT" (if that's what it is).

2 more questions I have about this item - Must I know the name of the artist to sell it on ebay or etsy?
And, it looks like someone may have tried to clean it with silver polish at one point, and the outcome isn't perfect. There are bits of chalky looking polish around on it. Now I remember why I never clean anything silver. My second question - what to do about the polish remains? They aren't easy to see in the photos, but it's there.

Anti, this style with the bear claw, branch coral and turquoise was made a lot by Navajo silversmiths. It is impossible to say that an unsigned or covered signature piece is by the same maker as a signed piece. And if you look at the details, the silversmithing is different.
So, you have a very nice piece, probably Navajo, but artist unknown.:(:sorry:

Yes, that's the conclusion I've come to also.

Maybe @komokwa would know the name of initials "AT" so I could further research.

The polish caked on it in tiny spots completely kills it for me, if anyone can find a sold value to something this, I can donate it to charity and take the tax write off.

No, you don't. But you can't sell it as Navajo or Native American. I don't know what the policy is regarding bear claws, maybe one of the others can tell you.
You can take some cotton wool with soapy water. and wash it off. If there are still bits left, use a Q-tip with alcohol.:)

    Hi,
Soak it warm water for a few minutes and then a soft toothbrush. That is what I do to remove the tiny cake spots.

You can't sell bear claws on Ebay or most other places for that matter.

Thanks, this makes it move much closer to the donation pile.

    Thanks, ick. ;)

Thanks, Greg. I will try this before the alcohol.

Thanks, Hollyblue, I am certain you've nailed the back of this one.

Can anyone identify the "Double Diamond" logo on the front? This clip has some losses. It's already in the donation pile, so please let me know if I should grab it out and try to sell it.

It is on leather, so afterwards you'd have to make sure the leather is all right.

OK, INTO THE DONATION PILE IT GOES! Or if I can find more work by AT that LOOKS CLOSER IN ARTISTRY to mine than the pendant does, I could research that.

You would have to research every Navajo who ever made this kind of work, not just the elusive AT. It will be a long list.;)
