Howdy! Here is one of the cool radios in my collection. Not sure how rare this is being that it is from a 5 and dime store. It' s from the 1960s and everything works including both sets of earbuds! The radio is a bit beat up, but works.

    Greetings iHeartOldRadios

Great to see it in its original box & inserts etc. I would imagine it does have some value to an enthusiast of such items.

I had a little one of these as a kid, mine was a Sobell I'd tune into Radio Luxembourg under covers after lights out c.1961 ..I remember hearing "Love me do" by the then unknown Beatles and wondering why it didn't become a hit ...had to wait for the re-release for it to become known after "Please Please Me" hit the charts ....Oh to be 12 again!!

Thanks! Yeah one of the cooler parts to me is the original battery that has the original plastic, which I would think would be hard to keep together.

The inserts and box are probably worth the same as the radio! Packaging makes a lot of difference in value. Also lucky the battery was removed/unused, as it would have corroded inside the radio by now! :)

Blooey, before your time in the late 1940s it was lights radio everything off at 9pm. I built a small crystal radio and ran a wire antennae out the window. It worked for about a year until Dad found it. He was happy I built it and it worked, but I still got punished for braking the rules!

I think the market for vintage technology in pristine condition or of limited availability (rare first generation items, items that failed, items unpopular at the time but now seen as innovative) has a lot of growth potential over the next few decades.

Here's a bit of my not so old tech (early 70's) that I keep around for fun calculator.jpg

9 volt batteries don't tend to corrode like the AA, C and D cells. I have quite a number old transistor radios myself. Sold one exactly like yours for $10 last year and felt very good getting that price. There is a pretty sizeable group of folk that collect them, so I would expect values might rise in the future.

Blooey, I still have an old HP25 calculator from the early 70's and it still works. My grandfather got it for me when I started college to get my Electrical Engineering degree.
