Im having the same problem here ! Every since my all time favorite thrift was bought out by a national chain,NOTHING good makes it on the floor. Out of my last 6 trips,Ive found zero . That's unheard of for me ! Probably for the best,as I once again just donated yet another load to the SA !
I like that watercolor Brad,I have a thing for trees.

Almost everyone in the room was. They were auctioning choice item or box lot of among about 10 things on the end of the table. No one even knew what lot we were bidding on. The single highest lot other than this one with the Tiffany last night was $75.00 for an antique drill press. Most things sold for under $25.00, including furniture. There was a lot of old stuff but it was mostly just plain junk and they passed on a lot of items or combined lots because they couldn't get bids.

And if they're smart NO ONE is ever going to clue the auctioneer on what he sold cheap.

(firstborn kid personality alert) One of my Rules is to buy jewelry from the toy guys and toys from the jewelry dealers. No one knows everything about everything, so if you hit an auctioneer who knows car stuff buy jewelry at his auctions. Chances are he won't know which names are the good ones or how to spot the unhallmarked gold.

    Hi,
It is the same way with other stuff. On the Bowery in NYC there are dozens of stores selling lighting fixtures. If looking for crystal chandliers go into a store that has brass fixtures in the window. Same for others if looking for brass go into a store with crystal everywhere. You will get a better deal. Been there done that. Never ran into a clueless auctioneer, have always been in the wrong auctions.

image.jpg image.jpg I found this nice still life today. It's signed Susan 70. On the verso, it appears to say "Maruman Air Dried Hand Made ???? Dainippon Made in Japan"

I'm still trying to find anything from a Susan back in the 70s that did work like this.

The canvas is nailed to the stretcher.

It could belong to a random art student. I have lots of friends who paint, only a small percentage of whom do it for a living.

Ditto here! I actually bought a $10 bag of jewelry at the Salvation Army that I knew was going to be junk because I was just hoping and praying for a little bit of somethin' !!!

(turned out to be all junk) :(

Can't wait until tax refund time so I can stock up a bit. :)

Couple more freebies from the neighbor at curbside.......

    Interesting spring-loaded adjustable height cart.

This typewriter was on it but don't think they originally went together.

Me neither. That's an office grade typewriter and cart that's probably from someone school media department. Best guess anyway. Nice snag. You can use the cart until someone begs nicely to buy it. Double win.

Maybe a projector cart? It is about 30" deep but only about a foot or so wide. It went right to the shop so I don't have it here to measure. The typewriter needs some cleaning before I take it in.

That's what I was thinking, depending on the size. They used to have slide projectors in addition to the 16mm film ones. Those were pretty old even when I was in school 30 years ago.

Geez, the things people put outside - glad you found that cart Brad, nice piece!
I picked up this beauty the other day, Gullaskruf glass designed by Arthur Percy in 1952, some pocket watches that don't work, the top of a stoneware chicken feeder and this mcm lamp, just missing the top shade. DSC00893.jpg DSC00564.jpg DSC00885.jpg DSC00913.jpg
