Featured Unusual antique necklace

I found this gold plated(or maybe brass) necklace at an estate sale today for $4.00.
I don't know what to make of it.
It is about 15" long (37 cm)
The segments have little faces, florals, swags or other design elements on them. Were they game pieces? Tokens? Some kind of decorative fasteners?
I'm sure one of our super smart Antiquer's must know!

 

I'm so jealous. That's an incredible find! Those are Georgian era fusee cocks from pocket watches.

 

Fascinating. The fat faces look like the four winds. The other bloke resembles Prince George, the Prince Regent or someone Hanoverian.

 

Oh, well that's why it's Prinny then!

 

Ooooh come to mama! I'd have snagged that too... or hope I would have been smart enough. Some watch collector's wife out there needs that, if you ever turn it loose.

I'd have grabbed that too. And would absolutely wear it.

 

It is choker length and I hate the feel of something so close against my throat.
I am going to attach a 3" extender chain with a hook, so that I can wear it comfortably.

 

Each time I look at it with a loupe, I see more exciting details. One panel has bear heads and two panels have serpents. The little faces are amazing.

 

No chance of this ever leaving the hoardatoruim!
