Found this piece the other day and bought it because it was cheap and looked old.

Google image search wants to ID it as Roman, but there's no way, right? The lack of wear, the color, the handle etc...

I'm trying to find others that are ID'd as fakes, but (surprise!) I'm having trouble doing so.

This is a contemporary piece with some sort of wash (concrete?) on it to make it appear to be old, right?

    Thank you for your expertise!

I've seen similar items being made in their hundreds throughout India. Sun-dried terracotta cups, vases, bowls & amphora, that are used in every-day life. Some of these items are then 'embellished' and 'aged' in order to dupe the unwary and being sold as so-called 'antiquities from the ground.' They look the part as decorative objects within a collection of antient items, but that's where the buck stops... I also know of "Ancient Roman" oil lamps being mass produced today in the back-streets of Cairo...
