Older looking metal stand planets

    Anyone know what this is ? A school piece or something else ? I have had it in my living room for some time now.

    Looks kind of like what's left of one of those planet stands - to show the rotation of the planets, etc??? I think you're right Billy... from probably a school....others will most likely have better input! I think it's seen WAY better days!:D

    It is very unusual to have a floor orrery. Usually they were used to demonstrate a concept and then put away until the next time....so small table models were used. Candle operated ones used reflectors for the most part. I have a 1904 model that I used in my classroom in the 60's until the present....looks like it is time to shine up my sun again. planetrev.jpg
