The only similar example I can find is a vintage glass donkey pulling a cart. This piece is very well made and has a lot of wear to the foot. I figured it would be an easy ID which proved to be wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated. I believe the dog is a St Bernard. Also could this be intended for toothpicks instead of candy?

I've seen several before. others around me who deal in such more often were of the opinion that they were more modern fantasy pieces. If that were the case I think more would be seen. I saw at least one that I thought had genuine age.

I have no doubt this one is old due to the wear on the base. This one has a large chip and crack on the reverse side.

Sanford in Victorian Novelties p 61 says Tiffin Glass Co 1886. The cart lid has a Monkey finial.

Note, the Tiffin Glass Co. George mentioned above, became the Sneath Glass Co. in 1892 and burned in 1894, NOT the Tiffin Glass Co. of U. S. Glass Co. fame. This is also shown in an ad from the Tiffin Glass Co. on page 44 in Sanford's book.

Thanks for the help. I managed to get this one for $5. It has a fairly large chip and a crack on one side, but still displays really nice with the other side.
