Still baffled

Hey,

Do the numbers on the back mean this was a reproduction a numbered lot or something? It’s really heavy and very tempting to open the case even if it means destroying the back of case. It’s completely sealed.

 

Or is it the area code to ireland and a phone number?

 

My guess would be it's Korean or Chinese or some such. Not old, given the dye in the crevices. It was sold as a decorative item rather than an antique is my guess.

I hope I am not repeating others. The item is Chinese, the yin-yang circle is part of the Bagua symbol, most commonly used in feng shui. The eight symbols made of lines are energies, earth, wind, fire, water etc. The symbol is often found with a mirror in the middle to post outside your door to keep out bad energy.
This looks like a modern reproduction for feng shui decorations to me.

Nice interesting all heaven symbolic it’s really cool. Never heard of early heaven Bagua, gonna do more research on that.
