Hi everyone! New to the board here. I acquired a coffee table passed down from my grandmother and it's been in my storage for a few years now and I'm just getting around to trying to research it.

It appears to have been in the family around the 70's and 80's. Measures about 4' across and has a push down console in the center that raises up (a bar I would assume).

Would love to get any information anyone may have on it so I can see what the next step is for it. I'd love to get it refinished.

    Thank you so much!

Let's start by referring to it as "vintage." (The word "antique" applies to objects that are 100+ years old.) To my eye, your coffee table does indeed appear to be 1980s-ish.

    Welcome JohnnyL!

Coffee tables are a fairly recent innovation so they are not all that old. I think they started in the early 20th century, others will come along with more definite information.

Your family had it in the 70s or 80s and it looks to be from around then, so it is vintage 70s or 80s. To be antique it would have to be 100 years old.

There is nothing marked on the bottom, no maker's ID?

Since it's only older rather than old, refinishing would be a good idea. And what Marie said - check underneath for whodunnit.
