Yes, Plated. And probably French, given the square shape of the maker's mark. The 18 stands for the amount of silver used in the plating.

well for .50 cents was worth a shot, curious of age as the other silverplate stuff at the sale was all pre 1900. I don't normally pick up plate but this just caught my eye! :cigar::cigar: Thanks for the info Bakersgma

It looks like "hotel silver" to me. You might want to check out the monogram in case it came from anywhere interesting. It may be from an old local hotel.

The monogram is CP and so far no joy on figuring age. I can tell you that its heavy weighing in at 12 1/2 oz (wish it was silver!!) also forgot to add dimensions, 4 1/2 inches high X 3 1/4 on base

Coreya, I don't recall where you are located, but how about something like the CANADIAN PACIFIC Railway?

I don't think it's Canadian Pacific; their logo from the era had an R in it too.

    Hi Coreya,
I was just looking at your pitcher, and I noticed the P is on top. Maybe it could also be hotelware for a “PC” hotel, airline, etc. Depending on which hotel, it could be collectible. I would suggest you first pin down a maker and if possible approx date, then determine what companies they did work for.

I've tried to find the French mark as suggested by Bakersgma with 0 luck, still trying though. Thanks

The mark on picture 5 right hand side is the same as mine "SOH" Have found similar descriptions indicating SOH was a maker for the French National Navy out of Paris but since I cant read French a lot of the pages were Greek to me :cigar:. Also found the phrase "orfevrerie Europ and Orfevrerie d'hotellerie" associated with the SOH mark. Most of what I've found points to mid century but the look of mine strikes me as older but what the heck do I know. Thanks for your help. :cigar::cigar:

What about the pelican on pic 6?

I suppose it could look like that, here's a better blowup of the pitcher mark. Perhaps it will help narrow down the dates by style of marks?

    And of the mentioned mark,

I think Inox means stainless steel, so that is only referring to the knife blade, so disregard that. From what I have read this may be an unknown maker that Christofle as a Retailer is somehow affiliated with. That is not to say yours was made by Christolfe, there are no marks for Christofle. We can maybe look searching SOH and Christofle and maybe learn more. Be patient, but maybe we drudge up something. We have to find the Pelican mark.

I think the mark is upside down; it looks more like 405 from here. Would that mean something? My continental silver mark knowledge is a little iffy.

Nope, not upside down and not 405. In the wider picture at the beginning of the thread, there is a very clear SOH punch.

I suspect that the initials may stand for some along the lines of Societe Orfevrerie Hotellerie given what coreya says he found in a French language link. Plus the 50 CL (50 centiliters) is much more likely to have been found on hotelware than on something intended for home use.

I'd passed right by the 50cl mark; that makes it fairly small and dead bang for hotel silverplate.
