    Hi Johnny,
It is a death mask of an old time prisoner. One of my teacher's grandfather made the mask after the prisoner was executed. It was done about 1840. It is just one of the unusual pieces that I have that will be tossed in the trash.

I sent photos to a couple of friends in the antiqu business, this is what they told me about it:

"It could be anywhere from about 1890 to 1910. It is a folding,
triple-panel sometimes referred to as a "Three Sisters Mirror". Doesn't
have to be for traveling, but could be (for those people who didn't travel
"light") but just usually used on a dressing table or vanity."

Also, at the same house, I found this...

Cheap plastic frame, no glass, backed with cardboard. I need to work on this poor baby!

Hi Marie.....I found my "3 sisters mirror"......not quite identical, but kind of close!! Opened completely up it's 19 1/2" wide and 8 5/8" tall with a single ball foot under each mirror section. My mirrors are not beveled and the backs are not tinned I don't think, but rather a maroon pattern of like a stamped cardboard??? Fun Find!!! Am NOT hijacking your post.....just an image or two!!! THANKS for jogging my memory!!!!!

Sweet! I love that they both have chain for hanging. My neighbor had it hanging on the exposed brick on the other side of her fireplace.

The backing on mine is not tin, it is also pressed cardboard. I am thinking they are both oak, what do you think?

Few things picked at the thrift this week.

These apothecary bottles were 69 cents each. Good find, as they can be pricey.....

This paperweight by Liuligongfang was 99 cents. Too bad it doesn't have the box but certainly worth buying.....

This COFRAC Art Verrier bowl was $4.00 .....

I have one very similar: beveled mirrors; 2 little turned wood feet for each panel; carved decoration around the edge; hanging chain. The panel that is out of sight when closed is a simple black embossed with sort of a stippling. The outer panels are a red & gold abstract design on black. Sold as a shaving mirror. It has some additional hardware that may have been meant to be used if you just wanted to mount it on the wall with the panels opened out flat.

Got this banknote at auction. A bit worn but still in the realm of collectability.

Ack! Rescue required for certain. Cardboard on a 19th century folk sampler is a crime.

Love the blue! I saw a very similar California Pottery set in brown last week but passed on it because I have too much brown pottery as it is. I wouldn't have been able to resist the blue.
