In my late teens and early twenties I was always told I looked like princess Caroline of Monaco (roughly the same age). Others either said I looked like my father, who was a very Indonesian type, except tall and with grey eyes, or like my mother, who was always mistaken for Spanish. They looked very different from each other, so it can't be both. I probably look more like my mother, but with slight Indonesian 'modifications'.
I look nothing like my folks....and have spent my life being told how much i resemble one or the other.......it always pissed me off that people ...in a desire to be kind.....or say the right thing.....were so g-ddamn fake !!!!
You may not see it yourself, but others might. People say I look like my sister, but neither of us can figure out why.
Part of what we look like has nothing to do with bone structure or coloring. How you carry your body, hold your mouth, furrow you brow, etc., are a big part of it. Was very struck by reading, many, many years ago, that whether you wrinkle your forehead vertically or horizontally, at the top of your nose or higher up, 2 folds or 3, is learned, which is why adopted children can strike others as looking like their parents.
Not the worst person to look like. Beats looking like a certain reality TV star turned politician. Adopted kids can end up looking a fair bit like their non-birth parents, odd but true - even if they're from different ethnic backgrounds.
Fun thread, I don't look here, either. I have been told I looked like Judy Garland when I was younger, and when I was a few years older, that I look like Phoebe Snow.
Are you still looking to 80's stuff or is this thread dead? I have an awesome pair of sunglasses that would look great on you. I can send you a pic if you're interested.
Yup, the thread has run it's course......& also......we have a SELL Forum....where members can post items for all to see....& an INBOX for conversations between interested parties for private conversations for selling details. Offering items for sale anywhere else on the site.....is contrary to the rules. Plus....clicking on REPLY....bottom right hand of any post.....insures that you are answering THAT post, of that member.....for a specific question. The more ya know , the easier this site is to navigate !!
Thanks for the info. I am more of a collector than a seller but my wife would like me to be the other way around so maybe I'll start using the sell section.
Darn it. I was in high school in early 80s. Should have saved all my tacky looking Flashdance clothes like my headbands and leg warmers.
