No markings on this ceiling light cover (shade? globe?). 15.5" diameter. Surely not antique but maybe 60s-70s vintage....Anyone care to guess its age?

Just found this "indo chinese bone antique sculpture" as the seller said...
Thanks to @Any Jewelry for sharing some of her collection and knowledge here!
That allowed me to recognize a keris hilt:)
    12cm high, 3cm diameter.
I'll update with my bottom and back pics upon arrival:happy:

    Is it an antique Lombok representation of Ranga?:bucktooth: Resized_20180420_170041.jpeg Resized_20180420_170012.jpeg Resized_20180420_165947.jpeg Resized_20180420_165920.jpeg

    I wouldn't come near him!

    In this thread:

AJ id'd a similar carving as ... "The depiction is of Hindu monkey god Hanuman being attacked by Naga, the dragon/snake, to test him. It is a scene from the Hindu epic Ramayana."

It looks pretty close to yours I think - except yours looks to have some age on it.

Will be interested to see the bottom; it has features that look like some kind of antler to me. Great piece!

Went to an estate sale this morning and spent $50. They claimed to have vintage costume jewelry and did have some, but nothing fantastic. One piece got away on me - a Victorian Revival pendant. I thought it was in my small box, but it escaped somehow and someone else got it. OTOH, I opened a small student's drafting kit, Victorian brass, and this popped out.... It's definitely old enough to be real, but there was a ton of Confederate funny money. DSCF8955.JPG

Added a McCoy Pottery vase to the hoard! Have a matching green vase that I purchased when I started collecting art pottery as a teen about 15 years ago.

It is gorgeous, kyra. It is Balinese.
There is a tiny chance it is Lombok Balinese, Lombok was once a Balinese colony and still has a Balinese minority. But Bali Balinese is much more likely.

@aaroncab was observant as always.:) It depicts a scene from the Hindu epic Ramayana, where Monkey God Hanuman fights off the divine snake Naga, who is testing if he is strong enough to fulfill his task of rescuing the lovely Sita from the clutches of demon king Ravanna.
It looks like deer antler, as Bronwen said, stained, my guess is mid 20th century, possibly a little later.
Are you sure it is a keris hilt? The base isn't rounded. Does it have a hole in the bottom big enough to put a knitting needle 7cm or more inside?
Either way, I'll send you a message. (drum roll:D)

This is a Rangda hilt (she is also in the other thread), Lombok Balinese. Her face is covered by her hair. She is carved from coffee wood by the so-called 'Master Carver of Lombok', and has an attached silver hilt cup:

First, thank you so much AJ for all your informations and for finding it gorgeous:kiss:
I bought it from Ebay France yesterday and have not it in hand for the moment...
I'll be able to answer your questions next week, and add photos of the base and back :joyful:
I suspect too it is carved from an antler, will see in flesh;)

I`m in the process of doing a house clearance in my village, no cash or gold , a few small antiques.

I recovered 17 unusual pieces of glass.

    :D

3 bottles of Scotch, a bottle of Rum and 12 bottles of Shiraz from Chile, South Africa and Australia.

    Oh and an empty decanter.

I`ve never heard of any of the brands and I can`t sell them so I guess I`ll have to sample them instead :D

Southern Hemisphere red is one of my favorite tipples, Scotch is not really my thing but I`ll try it and I`ve never had Rum ever.

I`ve been paid to take this stuff away.

Its a hard job but someone has to do it.
