    Hi all

I often come across Yixing type teapots in charity shops, but they always seem too fake to me. This one was worth a go, it just has a 'feel' about it.
It has inscriptions on both sides, and marked underneath. The spout and handle do not touch the table when laid upside down, is that an immediate nono? The lid fits really securely, and covering the lid hole stops the water from pouring. It feels quite heavy overall, at least compared to the fakes I have held.
    3 inches tall including lid

    Thanks
    Ratsy

What do you mean by fake? Aren't they still being made?

As of last year they sure were, so probably now too.

At 3" tall it seems very small. If you can control water flow with the hole in the lid, maybe it's a water dropper?

Very small size is proper for the antique teapots, as far as I know.
But also they are still produced.

Some Yixing pots are bitty, even now.

A bit late to the (tea)party. Lovely pot, really cute, but as you noticed, not the perfect Yixing teapot line.
If the price is right and it clearly 'speaks' to you, by all means buy it.
I agree with the others, there are no real fakes, just antique, vintage, recent, good quality and lesser quality.
Here are some relevant things I wrote before in other threads:

These small teapots were used to make/brew the tea. The tea would be strong and hot water would be added to it from a larger pot, our teapot size.
The perfect Yixing teapot line is equal height for the top of the pot, the top of the handle, and the top of the spout.

Did you check Gotheborg for the mark?

The older ones have a marking under the lid.
