6 pounds worth... a few knives so a bit of that is steel but ...if i'm doing the math right should be close to 1K melt.

Errr...need to revise - turns out approx half of it is plated - but 3 pounds of it is definitely 800 with a few sterling pieces mixed in.

As to the plated stuff - I've ID'd the maker - Bruckman (German) - seems like they sell okay on Ebay but not close to what melt of 800 would have been. Might actually keep them for my own use.

Aaron, did it come out in a single bag or was it just in the silverware section?

    AMAZING FIND! :singing:

Our current GW would never let that amount of silver slip out. (A few years ago, maybe. Not likely nowadays.)

    What a score!

I'm sure that bin had your full attention after you found the first 800 piece.

    Super find!

It sure did - problem was it was almost closing time - I think I got through it pretty thoroughly but I might swing back by there today to see if I missed any/they put any more out. Like you said - shocking to find it at Goodwill.

The silver - the large dinnerware is Bruckmann(German) 800 silver. The medium sized teaspoons are also Bruckmann 800. There are 2 teaspoons marked PAT'D STERLING with a mark I haven't figured out yet, and there are 5 small D.E. ( H. Hooijkaas for Douwe Egberts) 833 silver sugar spoons in the shape of different flowers. Comes out to about 1250 grams total - (guesstimating the weight of the steel knife blades).

    The plated is also Bruckmann:

I found this gold-filled locket yesterday at a thrift. Nice little emerald, does anyone recognize the emblem? 20180415_124717 (493x640).jpg

Certainly an oddity! I’m imagining it to be a quirkily designed initial with it being so large in scale with the locket.
Somebody with a name beginning with Z is a likely candidate to develop a quirky personality anyway haha.
Wouldn’t rule other things out though.
    Very cool.

Does it have no other marksongs? The hinge looks nice from first glance?

The Westerberg bowl is way cool! As to finding the silver - I had pretty much recently abandoned all hope of finding anything in the silver/metal section at Goodwill/similar places, but Nate and Anun keep posting amazing finds so once in a while I'll take a gander through, definitely not every time I'm in there. Still though, must be 1 out of a couple hundred visits that I've found anything worth keeping in the silver section.

I go through mine at least twice a week and it's pretty unusual to find any silver other than in the overpriced jewelry. It does pop up, but you pretty much have to be there when the bins roll out.

3C3022D3-0ECF-4AF5-A14C-55CC739FB3D7.jpeg Stuff I got at estate sale: Mostly tools I can use, some militaria. I never go to those sales but this one was two blocks from my house, had to check it out. It doesn’t show the 6 tall steel file cabinets marked “free” on last day, which I took along. Got a nice 1903 Indian Head penny in my change from one purchase there, dunno the value but more than a penny I think. Edit: Looking at coin sites, guess mine is a $4. Item. Not sure whether to trust a COIN seller who doesn’t even know what century the coin eas minted! But doesn’t matter to my valuation. https://www.littletoncoin.com/shop/...P7DUYPTDe7IF_UYZ3qhupPVQ7VKEmK_BoCYnUQAvD_BwE

This the necklace from yesterday. That's a vintage clasp on there, and they're strung well enough that I don't need to mess with them. In this case I tested the beads with a thumb and my nose, but already knew what they were. DSCF8912.JPG

I am late to this, but wanted to say, a lot of folks sell mismatched brass candlesticks for weddings these days. Seems to be a trend in decorating. So if you plan to sell them you could make a tidy profit.

Where I am, brass is not a sleeper item so they expect to get top dollar so I rarely can buy it for resale.

Good luck and enjoy your treasure hunting.
