Featured Fossil rock -- from estate sale

Thinking someone will ID this in no time flat. Seems to be half polished, what would I call this type of rock? Also wondering if it has any value or could go in my rock garden. Purchased at an estate sale in a junk box. Thanks.

 

It shows a clearly sectioned ammonite. The other fossils are not so clear. Possibly Devonian or Carboniferous era although I think you have alternative names for these periods in the USA.Looks like a mudstone or possibly a dirty limestone.

 

Jasper? When I googled fossil jasper I got different results...

Yes, ammonite, it will suffer outside if left to the elements especially the fossils, seeds will germinate in recesses, acid rain etc. Sorry can’t help with the rock, could be mudstone, this one I have has reddish brown mud in it.

 

It's a nice chunk of rock; I wouldn't chuck that outside.

Maybe I'll list on Ebay -- who knows. I'd love for a collector to have it if it is something interesting.

Good place for it; odds are it will fetch up with some fossil lover or rock hound whose understanding spouse would let this one be displayed somewhere.
