Featured Help finding details on artist, G M King

Hello

Recently came across an oil painting by artist G M King. I've searched online and found 2 other examples of his work, but can't find any details on the artist himself. Can you help me find his first names and his nationality?

I would suspect from Great Britain. The Grey Partridge is not exactly as widespread in North America as there. What other birds did he paint? Also, the label could have been put on by someone other than the painter, but I've never heard of "brace" of partridges, only, "covey" or "in a pear tree."

 

I've only seen them referred to as "a brace" of game birds after they've been shot.

Here's another he did. Love this. Still just the initials and no information about him. Auction house in Ireland. That makes two auction houses in Ireland selling his work. Irish?

Thank you all for your diligent searching. I had seen the one on adams.ie but none of the others. I tried looking on the saleroom but their search functions continue to baffle me.
@Caribou's House I think you are right about the label being more recent-no signs of wear or staining. If you look at the canvas around the edge on the back you can see the word partridge painted in red, seems more likely to be done by the artist.

 

Irish seems likely, I'll see what else I can find

 

He is from Co. Galway.

 

I would like to know about him having just brought one of his pictures. The one from the-salesroom above.

It would appear that Colonel Martin (the Irish politician) was 1754-1834 so that would probably be the date of the subject rather than the painter if that's what you mean.

 

I mean the artists biography, when was the artist born? I can see from the above thread that Nuala posted he is from Co. Galway. I wondered whether or not he painting today? No sign that he is. Some of his bird paintings seem good, the peregrine and the two Greenland Gyrfalcons. But if the price in 2018 was £22 then I should have bid very much lower and subscribed to the price guide before buying.

 

It does say in the description listed artist G M King was a listed artist G M King (1921-2000) so he is no longer painting but if he is listed where did he exhibit?

 

In this case, a brace means: two or a pair of like things. Thus, a brace of partridge.

 

This site is calling him Gerard King but only him as a British contemporary, post-war artist. Other places mention Ireland.

There are several of his landscape paintings on this Facebook page. Perhaps contact the gallery, looks like they are in Clifden Co, Galway, Ireland.
