One Dollar Bill error

My sister mailed me some paper money and some old coins, this bill I have never seen before like this, I have seen errors but not like this one. Anybody have a name for this type of error ?

They call it a "paper fold error" and apparently is worth something...how much I don't know.

looks like a butterfly fold over....
the bill is not the most crisp......but it looks reasonably clean...( stop playing with it......)

As Aaron says.....it's worth money.....how much....is a question.
But without sounding rude....I think it's worth more than a bunch of stuff you've been showing us lately..!!

Please ask your sister to mail me some of those !!!

The last one I had like that I got a 150 for it. Of course it was by Mr Barr who wasn't Sect of the Treasury for very long.

In currency the more extreme the error, the more value. This error is fairly extreme and should be worth decent money. Congrats!

 

Just learned something new again.

 

Sell it in some kind of auction format, even Eboo if you don’t want to wait for the next big coin/currency live auction. Get it mounted attractively/professionally first. And beware of advice from people like me who know nuffin’ ‘bout it.

Quality pictures are key if you are going to sell this on an online platform like eBay. Also finding the specific name of this type of error is going to be key as well since most collectors search using keywords.

 

I thought ' butterfly Fold over' was correct.....
I would not mount it......
but would place it between two sheets of clear hard plastic , just to protect it !

 

May be the right terminology, not my area of expertise. I agree with the plastic suggestion, hobby shops should stock archival quality holders.

Ebay apparently has a category for "Coins and Paper Money>Paper money> Errors". Here is a sold auction, didn't look closely to see how Billy's compares so value may be different, but you can see what category they used + keywords.
