Got a few fiberglass tubs, about 2’x4’x18”, containing 200 lbs ea “hardware.” From photos it looked like there might be some stuff useful to machinists. It looks like the discards from a place that had many manual machine tools and suddenly converted to computer-controlled machine tools. So all the old triangles, parallels, micrometer bodies, etc. went into these tubs with other tooling and fixtures. It’ll take me a day to sort it, usable machining setup devices vs. less useful steel objects of various descriptions. It was interesting to note that all of the triangles were “shop made” as opposed to items purchased from instrument makers. The machinists who made them put their names or initials on the pieces, it appears, haven’t looked at any of it very close yet.

EA481B32-1FAD-4270-ABEA-45F4660294B6.jpeg The tubs were stacked up one inside the other, no way to get a chain or strap under one easily so I had to figure out a way to grab the top edge and lift. I used two circular straps, 16’ circumference, looped around just under the flared rim, each tight around the opposite ends with excess at the other going thru a shackle to the opposite lifter fork. It worked!

Those last look like jeweler's anvils. Just ask any silversmith. If they're solid steel, anyone hammering pieces of silver would pounce on them.

Oh, I think you saw the die boxes, green sheet metal boxes with contoured wood inside to protect dies from damage in handling. I peeked, some empty, some full. The dies I’m sure were made for some special operation and I’ll probably never have a use for them. Buy ya never know.

She may have set the example for an insulator sculpture installation. I’m toying with the idea anyway. My insulators have a hole thru center so are easy to string like beads, stack up, bolt down, use for monster eyes, etc. That’s all I need, one more %@@&$!!?¥£€ project.

All are possibilities! I’ve gotta make sure whatever I add doesn’t clash with Bird Egg Blue. Maybe a yellowish-white for starters. And some bright brass accessories.
