Dresser Value?

    Last one! Dove tailed drawers, top one won't push in all the way. No identifying marks or stamps. Serpentine Dresser? What would you list this for?

    as in sanded down?

    Stripped and refinished; the color on this doesn't look like the way the Victorians finished them. On the upside, quarter-sawn oak isn't always all that valuable. There's too much of it around, and brown wood isn't doing too well at the moment.

    Here in my semi-rural Midwest location, I would be lucky to get $100.00 for this at retail in this condition. It would be significantly less at auction. You may do better(or worse) where you live.

    I am part of a 30 dealer group shop and work part time on the sales floor. We are not a strictly antiques shop but do sell a lot of antiques.

    Yes, patina on wood is literally "skin deep" and if you sand the piece in any significant way it's known as "skinned". Ditto if piece is dunked in a vat of hot chemicals or lye.
