Thanks bakers, I wasn't sure on Roden bros. for the mark. How do you find the Canadian silver marks page on the 925 site?

Click on American. Canadian are listed at the bottom of the dropdown.

Eh, Sterling Flatware Fashions shows it as a Baltimore Sterling Silver Co. mark, but I am 99% sure that is not correct - and feel sure I've researched it before, but can't recall if the manufacturer was found. Ran through the pattern books I have handy to see if I might find it under another maker - found patterns close, but no banana...

The crown in the Baltimore Sterling mark is such a different shape & the positioning is off also. I won't be doing anything with these pieces for at least a couple of weeks because I am trying to get my ducks in a row to leave for Virginia next Tuesday, so there is absolutely no hurry.

I noticed you had been MIA for a little while. I hope your Mother is still doing okay.

Thanks for asking, Peggy - Mom is in good health, though wheelchair-bound, her dementia is progressing rapidly, but seems to be leveling off a bit. I'm 24/7 caregiver - life is challenging these days...

Regarding the mark in question, Scott Perkins, on his excellent Stieff Company research site, says it is "NOT" a Baltimore Sterling mark, but doesn't recall the maker. Not quite halfway down on this page: http://www.thestieffcompany.com/The_Stieff_Company/Date_Marks_and_Year_Differences.html

Thanks for checking into that for me. I guess the mystery will just have continue for now.

I am sorry your Mother is declining. I know how difficult it is to see someone you love having such difficulties & dealing with the role reversal on a 24/7 basis just piles on the stress.

Take care of yourself & just know that we are all here if you need to vent about the situation.

Just looking at this thread for the first time. Cheryl, take care of yourself, too... and your mother. It's hard... we'll be here to support you!
