Salem Furniture???

Can anyone give me information about this piece - maker, age, quality?

 

Looks to be 50s Colonial revival style. Likely Maple. Don't think Salem is the company but some other designation.

 

I am new to the furniture flipping business and was thinking of painting this piece for sale. Any suggestions of fair sales price once finished>

 

Will depend on what kind of painter you are. Good or bad. Artistic or just painted a solid color.

 

What she said. That 50s maple furniture has been deader than a dodo for years as it sits. What it sells for as a redone piece depends on how well it's been painted.

We are seeing some solid maple furniture in very good condition selling without paint here in the Midwest. Doesn't sell for a lot but there are those that appreciate the quality. I would choose something of lesser quality for paint.

 

I'd say paint away judging by the painted piece you did in another thread. I know of a couple that buys old furniture for a song and decorates with paint and they appear to be successful. Paint can be very alluring if done properly & can give pieces a new lease of life.
