here are a few of my items, the best find are the 8 Christmas cards:), an Alvar Aalto iittala Glass Vase which unfortunately has a small internal fracture along the top, looks like it is a Skruf rather than Orrefors (thank-you Kronos) Vase, I think this next piece is a spittoon, a 1976 Talking Donald Duck for my granddaughter and a McDonalds halloween pin.

Look up Biwa pearls and Mississippi Freshwater pearls. If those are Mississippi or Tennessee freshwaters, it would explain how they ended up in gold settings.

Went to two estate sales today and might as well have stayed home. At the first one, a family sale, the first guy in the door got everything I'd have bought. No jewelry to be had, although I did find one of the ubiquitous Mexican butterfly pins anyway. I bought four items, an aluminum menorah, a Murano glass mosaic copy of the 10 Commandments (needs research), the pin... and the goofiest advertising letter opener I've seen in ages. It's from a German drug company. It's the only one I've ever seen with a picture of a uterus. DSCF8807.JPG DSCF8805.JPG

The second estate sale... spent a dollar on mardi gras bead necklaces for a charity. That was a total waste of gas.

I didn't realize about these until I needed a replacement for one lost from this cameo setting at 6 o'clock. Admittedly, I got a great deal on the brooch, was still shocked to find a suitable pearl was going to be about half as much again. With jeweller's services, more than half.

    Very nice everyone.

cxgirl, love the old cards. They just don't make them like they used to.

    Great jewelry finds too.
Didn't have any sales to go to this weekend so I have to look at the pretties you all found for my fun.

All I got this weekend is this book. Blue book of the screen 1924. They were going to throw it away so i got it for free. This is an extraordinary book because is has all the actors, directors, and overhead shots of the studios. The photos are beautiful, and almost every photo is signed. With the taped binding and stained pages it's probably not worth a lot but it is awesome.
