Storage Find,Vintage 60"x38" Western Painting Signed

    I got this beautiful painting out of one of my storage auction.Measure 60"x38" with out frame.Signed but I can't make out the name,look like "Po or Patton".Any idea who this artist is. SAM_4601.JPG SAM_4604.JPG SAM_4605.JPG SAM_4607.JPG

    Looks like Patton to me.

    In which state did you find it? Anything on the back?

    I got it in a storage auction in Tennessee,nothing on the back that I can see.

    I don't know a Patton artist, but it would not surprise me to find that this image was used as a western novel illustration, or possibly a copy of same.

    It is very illustrative. There is a cowboy painter named Patton but yours doesn't appear to be his work. It may be the work of a non-professional.

    The only thing about Ernie Patton is that he was born around 1940 and your picture looks to be older in style. That might not mean anything.

    I think that's a strong possibility. Obviously someone who enjoys painting and works with a number of subjects -- landscapes, religious, portraits. The painting is among the types of subjects I would expect a man born c. 1940 and raised on cowboy & Indian movies/tv shows would find attractive. To my eye, the frame looks 1970s.
