rough ceramics figure, african?

    Anyone recognizes this unglazed ceramics figure or know where it could be from? It looks African. Made for tourists, or could it be tribal? Height about 18 cm.

    The picture seems to have been spirited away, so I guess a representation of a spirit?

    It is cute. Doesn't look African to me. Latin America maybe?

    You might be right. Eyes and mouth somewhat similar to figurine on this picture on Wikipedia, labeled: A typical Pre-Classic figurine from central Mexico, similar to the "pretty ladies" of the Tlatilco culture. So maybe Mexico, probably contempory?
