I love that watch! So much so, that I immediately went to eBay to see if there was one like it for sale. No such luck. Do let me know if you decide to sell. :) (Though I would need to know the length... I have a large wrist.)

It's all good. Money makes one comfortable, not happy. And stuff is just stuff. Happy memories are the most important possesion.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

WISE words Marko!! And I too am sorry for your troubles.......Mom gave me so much of her "stuff" about 4 or 5 years before she passed, but so much is just not ME, although it's beautiful. When she did pass I gave each of her granddaughters something nice.....and probably will again before me, but I do understand it's so hard to let go......so many memories..........

A much earlier comment about the warch being worth the gold scrap value is accurate as far as the auction market goes, the maker is decent but not capable of attracting the sort of premium you'd need to get much over scrap. Patek Phillipe or Audemars Piquet would be another matter. Milanese bracelets are just not fashionable, nor are the bark effect ones.

    @gregsglass

the rest of the stuff was gathered so it can be disbursed by the wind or who ever wants it.

Please do not let the banknotes you showed about a year ago be dispersed to the wind or be given to children to play with. They should go to a collector.

The guys wouldn't mind collecting her, for certain. In my family there are only two of us kids in the immediate family. The family jewelry, such as it is, is already in my sister's safety deposit box. My niece is going to inherit the whole pile eventually and I haven't worn any of it since high school. I'm still living in the house I grew up in and my sister legally owns it already so that's set. Anything in the extended family, such as it is, all goes to my cousins anyway. I think if I croak first all of the collectibles will end up in a church giveaway or rummage/jumble sale. :)

I seriously need to look into getting a booth in an antique mall. I can now be one of those people that just puts stuff out and if it sells, it sells. There are always a million curio cabinets at estate sales the last day that go for half price. I saw a great one for $10 at a yard sale last year, my problem is getting it from one place to another.

Thanks, the avatar is a painting I fell in love with entitled Aphrodite.

I still have to contact a dealer to come empty my uncle's house of the old furniture before the realtor will put it on the market. And I got some great news. I called the state to see where the inheritance tax waivers were so I could get things moving, close out accounts, sell the house, etc. I sent the the taxes the end of November, they cashed the check the first week of December, I had a CPA do the taxes, and they told me I have been selected for an audit. They are backed up and I will not be assigned an auditor until at least May. My cousin told me she knew someone this happened to and the state dragged it out for a year and a half. Welcome to New Joisey.

Thanks. I just saw my CPA Monday to have my uncle's final tax return done. He triple checked the inheritance tax paperwork, not a hair out of place. We had an evaluation done on the home that was lower than the assessed tax value, so I made him list the tax value. He's more upset than I am.:writer::dead:;)

I'm in the middle of the same.....the tax value on Dads house is way higher than the appraisal I just got.
It's smack dab in the middle of some recently renovated and sold homes.....with outrageous prices .....but it's not near the same upgraded condition.
My accountant is worried the difference will stand out like a sore thumb....& be questioned by the tax dept !

I told the accountant I wanted to send pictures with the paperwork. He said it wasn't necessary. One would really need to see it and the surrounding area to truly understand how decrepit it is.

I would too - it sounds like a flip house. Worst house in the best neighborhood?

With mom's passing last month...there is not much to devide ...Sis and I are already disagreeing on the house...(she says it is a good investment and I hate being a landlord)..told her ..we either put it up for sale..or she can buy me out!!
There are only two pieces of jewelry of value...1 diamond and a string of very good pearls..
Even that will be a problem...I know what I want..diamond..bet sis wants it too..she already has pearls...!
So even the simple estates can be hard...

I actually love the house, but my uncle never ever fixed anything. He finally got a new roof....after the old one leaked and stained the walls. No mold, thank goodness. The realtor who wants to sell it really liked the outside. There is a barn that has an open front with a tin roof. There is a converted chicken coop shed that the original owner who built the house himself used as a garage. The house sits on ten acres, it could be divided 5 and 5, but not three lots, I would need another half acre to do that. My uncle originally had 15 acres but sold 5. It sounds like a lot, but it is in a township that has no sewer, water, or trash pickup. The saving grace in this township is the school system.

The outside is a wreck, too. Needs new siding. It is sturdily built from cedar, but the realtor said it is a project for somebody. A lot needs to go into it. I like the layout- you walk in to a kitchen, then the living room which has a small alcove for a dining room, than there is one bathroom on the first floor with two bedrooms. The upstairs has two bedrooms. The A ceiling attic could be finished for more storage. It has beautiful pine hardwood floors.

The realtor keeps calling, my brother thinks he has someone in mind for it. Oh, it needs a $10,000 septic system, too, probably to pass inspection.

It is not the worse house in the neighborhood, now picture that.
