This golden tea set has been in my family for over 50 years. It has some Chinese/Japanese markings. I can’t make out. It is a set of 12 tea cups and saucers. A tea pot, milk jug and sugar bowl. The back has no markings. Any leads or information would be helpful.

    Welcome to Antiquers TinyTim!

Not sure if you can still edit the title, but if you can, mention the Asian characters.

Tried and failed. It only provides an option to 'ignore this thread'. i notice my edit option as also disappeared. Does it allow you to edit a post only once?
Sorry for silly questions - am new on this forum

The edit function is time-limited, although I am not sure how long after making a post it is available. With any luck @Asian Fever will respond to a tag.

Very beautiful tea set. And I can be sure the tea set is Chinese.
The markings are written in Chinese bronze inscriptions, which I can only read a few of them. This language is normally used for bronze ware before Qin Dynasty (206BC). However, there are still many newer porcelains or bronzewares bare this language for decroration.

The markings (it is actually an Emperor edict or Emeror summon) need be read vertically, from right to left.
It reads:"twenty one, me, the emperor '........................' emperor, edict".
Sorry, I cannot read the middle words...

I cannot be really sure the age of this porcelain, but it looks after 1950s.

    Thanks Asian fever.
Have you seen any tea sets like these before ?
Are these emperor summons edits common in tea sets ?

I saw several modern sets like this, but nothing like this before 1980s. (Probably there are some sets like this made between 1950s and 1980s, but most of them should bare a mark because all porcelain factories are owned by government at that time.) Since you claimed this set has been kept for over 50 years. So I really don't know how old they are. Sorry about it.

PS: There's another probability is that this set is made in Hongkong or Malaysia. By reviewing the back of the plate, it was not made by Jingdezhen Kaolinite.

Hi Asian fever have attached the back of the big plate.
Also spoke to my mom who said this was there in my house in 1980. I know that not very helpful. 47A18B4E-C3F3-4E76-BCCE-4A70514FBFC8.jpeg 687FB189-F3FD-4838-982B-44AAD441BE71.jpeg
