Anyone familiar with this hour glass? Abalone?

    BBCE6097-4F5A-42A4-9A1C-166A0EB7D192.jpeg i picked up this hourglass sand timer today for $10 at my local thrift. I thought it was super cool. It’s lined with abalone pieces on top and bottom. I can’t tell year or material. Seems like the posts are painted steel or brass and the body is the same colored, painted wood. Anyone have any insight on the year? Or if I’m in the hole on the $10 purchase? Thanks!
