    They try to hide it, nobody would order them if they told the truth.;)

    I pigged myself out on oysters on Vancouver Island. I've also eaten live clams, which were delicious. And still wriggling. ;)

    To my eye, with the extended 'antenna' handle, and the starburst motif, it looks mid 20th century, very much 'atomic', 'space-age', 'Sputnik', etc. - not sure I understand why enameling would indicate earlier age, a lot of my enameled pieces are MCM. No idea what it is (maybe just a trinket box or the like?), definitely missing its base (perhaps a tripod?) - an inkwell seems unlikely, not really a practical form for that use...

    You should try Hang Town Fry, not so boring

    Oh and Vancouver Island resident here, eat em off the beach or just go for the Fanny Bay ones. All good!

    Have never tasted caviar or live clams. :vomit::vomit::vomit::vomit:

    The only time I have eaten oysters I was over halfway through a bottle of wine & the DH tricked me into eating one. He regretted it later that evening. ;):eek::eek::vomit::bag::bag:

    @KSW - I agree with your daughter. :hilarious::hilarious:

    Raw oysters was one of the few things my Mom wouldn't eat and I don't either, though, of course being a Floridian, have had the obligatory drunken slurp - my ex loved them until my Food Manager certification many years ago, though it's uncommon, showing him the effects of vibriosis put him off (he's bit of a germaphobe)...

    I love 'em raw, but I did think the Po' Boy fried sandwiches in Virginia Beach were damn fine.

    Love caviar. The salmon kind is good, and even lumpfish roe, but then, I always loved cod roes on toast as a child.

    Good question. When resting it stays upright but with the slightest push, wobbles like a roly poly. The base does possibly feel weighted. Also, although the inside is perfectly round the base has a tiny bit of a flattening, which probably helps it not tip over. Mystery remains!

    I haven't a clue what that thing is.

    I've never eaten a raw oyster and never will. Raw shellfish is on my NOPE list with a capital Nope. My grandmother loved them though; she was a New York farm kid who ended up working as a maid in New York. At the time raw oysters were a fad everyone had to serve, including her Jewish employer. Who didn't eat oysters and sent them back to the kitchen every time. Grandma learned to love 'em.

    I've had caviar. I wasn't impressed. Fried oysters are a whole different kettle of shellfish than raw ones. Still not eating any from Red Tide areas though!

    No big fan of caviar myself, probably because I'm not much for salt - but have consumed quite a bit since I do love crème fraîche and sour cream...

    Love Oysters Rockefeller. I tried raw oysters, can't say I didn't like them but, I didn't like them enough to eat them again.

    Raw egg. Another case where you'd better be able to trust the supplier.
