    Hi all.
I have this rather old wooden 'puppet'.
The original clothes are a tad tatty with a few holes but adds to it's charm me thinks.
Does anyone know what the symbol is on the for ehead?
I've found plenty of red crescents but not the 3 lines.
It may cast some light on it's origin.
    Cheers me dears.

It is Indian, possibly made in Rajasthan, NW India. It represents Lord Krishna.
Puppet theatres are part of India's popular culture. The plays are usually based on Hindu stories.
The symbol on the forehead is one of the many ways of portraying the third eye, an important feature of Hindu divinities. The third eye is a means of seeing things ordinary mortals can't see. It is also a symbol of enlightenment.

No sorry, I haven't found this exact one either. There are many local differences.
