Hey. I have a sculpture shown in the photograph. I need help in identification. In my opinion it is a handle made of bone. Height about 16 cm, width 3 cm. I am asking for help and the possible value of the item. Thank you IMG_20180305_195253 2.jpg IMG_20180305_195306 2.jpg IMG_20180305_195221 2.jpg

Does appear to be bone. Whether or not a handle...? The hole seen in the bottom would be natural to the material, not necessarily an indicator of how it was used. Any sign at all that anything was ever attached there?

Z tego, co znalazłem w Internecie, może to być rękojeść miecza z wysp Bali. W tej dziurze był zdecydowanie obiekt. Kość wygląda ładnie. Zdjęcia nie odzwierciedlają jej zawiłej rzeźby.

Google translate: "From what I found on the Internet, it could be the hilt of a Bali sword. The object was definitely in this hole. The bone looks nice. The pictures do not reflect her intricate sculpture."

It is the handle of a Balinese betel nut crusher, made of bone. They look like Balinese keris hilts, but have a narrower base. A thin metal rod would be shoved in the hole:

The depiction is of Hindu monkey god Hanuman being attacked by Naga, the dragon/snake, to test him. It is a scene from the Hindu epic Ramayana.

Gajdas, you have some interesting and beautiful items. Do you collect and / or sell Asian art?

It is best not to put an email address on the forum. It will attract the wrong people. If anyone wants to contact you, they can do it through your personal inbox which you can see on the top right hand corner of every page.

Sorry about that, I was very tired yesterday and my brain wasn't working as it was supposed to.:(;)
I can't edit it anymore, I will ask the moderator.
@daveydempsey can you remove the email address in my last post? Remove the whole post if necessary, it is not relevant anymore. Thank you:), and sorry for being an annoying scatterbrain.

Some of my Bali and Lombok Balinese keris hilts of different ages and materials.
As you can see, they have much wider bases than betel crusher handles. They are also more chunky, because Balinese keris are big and heavy. There is generally a decoration around the base, usually set with cabochons.
