I am in search of an antique oil on tin depiction of Purgatory (Anima Sola). These were a common theme in Mexican / Spanish Colonial Retablos.

Hello thanatos 08. Do I take it you collect death-related things? Can you show us what one of these looks like? Perhaps we see them but do not know what they are called.

Very interesting. Is he tonsured like a monk? And why does he look so happy? Because he knows his time there is limited & heaven awaits? In what setting would these be displayed?

Interesting prices. I have a beautiful antique retablo of Our Lady of Guadalupe, more skilfully painted than most. Because of this thread I looked at some of the prices, wow, much more than I expected.
For some reason my camera won't upload pictures on my computer now, so I can't show her.

 

The Lone Soul Debora linked us to looks more patient/resigned, not so happy.

female carved figures. Would love to see what you can find.
I have a home in SMA, GTO.

 

I have found one oil painting so far, but no carved figures.
