    Hi All,
I found this today and trying to figure out the signature - I've tried Eric and Erin Joseph 2x3, not sure what that means but not finding them. It is 11" x 14", painted on thick paper.
    Any information appreciated.
    thanks for looking

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I'm sure I'm waaaay off base, but I tend to see "Erin JayQ 2K3" or that could be Gray Q .....but a loopy J or G....have no idea what that could mean either!!!!! I played with the colors in Photoshop.....sometimes different colors make different things stand out better.....a little......

there r lots of Josephs out there....2003 could certainly be a younger one I'm not familiar with...
looks like a bear on the right and a frog on the left.
but....this artist is a little unclear ....or expansive ...with his formline ......so to my eye the creatures are a little muddied...

Yup, there are a lot of them!
that is interesting with the 2K3 - why not just sign 2003?

& I'm thinking Eric......cuz girls have better handwriting & are less likely to be a NWC artist.

This Raven & Wolf Eel...?.....( the face is a frog.....) is much more well designed.....& has a Danny Dennis feel to it....maybe there's a relation there....???

    upload_2018-3-23_15-43-55.jpeg Danny's frogs

& your Raven looks too much curved beak.....more like an eagle...

I'd say this artist needs a lesson or two...

Let us know what you found out. I think Komo has covered it pretty well; there are quite a few members of the Joseph family, so a younger member, not yet very well-known, is a distinct possibility. And there are similarities in style to the Jospeh painting shown above, as well as a definite Danny Dennis feel.
(I'm quite fond of Danny Dennis, and have a number of original paintings of his).
I'd say the artist in your original post is taking some liberties with the NW Coast forms, which again might indicate a younger artist doing some experimentation and trying to develop an individual style that pushes the boundaries of tradition, without breaking those boundaries.
