Featured Chinese? leaf painting on board.

8" x 10 " no idea Who the artist is.
Looks like leaves were glued to the board then painted over.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Never saw one done on a leaf before.............! Curious....is it backed on a board?? Sorry, but not a clue as to the signature.....but looks like he's smokin' some 'mellowin' stuff!! Nearly forgot....and I LOVE the face on him!!!!!

 

Yes the painting is on a hardboard. He does look sorta mellow. that looks like a bong of sorts made from bamboo

 

Looks a little like my friend's Hmong grandfather smoking something other than tobacco.There seems to dozens of pictures with the same theme(smoking)"bamboo bong",pipe and painted on tobacco leaves with many different signatures.Google "Asian picture painted on leaves" and look at images.

As someone on artconversation already said, similar paintings of elderly men were made in Thailand. Thailand was my first thought.

 

I'm in Australia and due to geographical proximity we have a lot of Asian things turn up here. I have seen several such leaf pictures and I'm sorry, here at least they usually sell very cheap.

 

I would have thought Vietnamese or Hmong. There are a lot of Hmong in the Fresno area and when we went to a restaurant, they had similar style hats in the artwork on the walls.

 

Could be Vietnamese, maybe they copy the Thai style. The hat is general Southeast Asian.

I may have to use several countries in my title or just use Asian lol. I wasn't thinking he was going to bring retirement money by any means. But he was only .69 cents so i touched up the chips and framed him.
