    Hi,
Still emptying boxes and found this Tudor Oyster Air Lion Watch, seems to run fine, has been running for 24hr and keeps good time. The glass face is broken. Has numbers on the back, #291924 (I looked up this number and it could be 1944 or 1957) #7958 - no idea what this number is. The winding pin doesn't have a crown on it but does lock so maybe not all had the crown on them? I can't open the back to look inside, maybe it needs a certain type of tool to open?
Can the glass be replaced with any face that fits or should it be a genuine Rolex piece? Or if I decide to sell, just list as is and let the buyer replace?
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking

    Hi,
I would let the buyer do any work on it.

Very nice ...don't think the strap is original and I don't think Tudor ever had a crown (of course I could be wrong)

thanks bobsyouruncle:) I have found a couple without and some with the crown - I joined a Rolex forum so maybe they will know for sure.
thanks greg. Yes, if I sell it I will sell it as is.

Yes, hopefully I will hear something and will post here.
Sorry, it won't be for sale. My son said he would like it so I'll get the face and maybe the strap replaced.

    Air lion?

    Not air line?

Odd choice of model name. Might be an idea to have the back off and see what is inside.

The glass can be any replacement that fits and will be plastic nowadays but still referred to in the US as a crystal. The face is the dial.

Tudors with a crown marked winder have probably had a replacement.
1950s would probably be about right.

Thanks AF. Air Lion is correct, from the 1940s, they weren't made in the 1950s (from the Rolex forum). There was also Air King, Air Tiger and Air Giant.

I think because I used my old PC to post this reply. At some point I forgot password and created another id. If this is an issue you can disable the one I used to reply to this thread.
