These two plates, were unsold at Woolley & Wallis in 2013, and I bought the same two at a South Wales auction recently and just getting to look at them.

I thought they might be Swansea but that is probably wishful thinking, I'm not happy with rim border (blue)

Here are a similar pair attributed to Swansea with a brown rim
border and a foot (which mine don't have). Bonhams also sold similar Swansea plates with brown rims

Don Pottery seem to have gilt borders

The paintings are based on William Curtis' Botanical magazine, our plates are Convolvulus Major and Cape Aitonia

Worth researching, but unsure whether we will be able to identify maker

The Robert Burns cigarillos 5c pack is interesting because the picture looks like Robbie Burns the Scottish poet.

Dave- my uncle had a similar Japanese frame with the picture of his Japanese sweetheart in it, dating to WWII. His has colors on the metal- yours looks older.
Dave, the ring is very interesting, as is the book....did you research the script used in the ring? I will have to google, I love jewelry mysteries.

Evelyb- I am betting it is good jade if it has an 18k bale. I can never figure jade out.

Terry, that is one interesting mix of stuff!

@terry5732 - What is the green case with the cameo on the front? It is very familiar & I remember having one, but for the life of me can't remember what was inside of it.:confused:

No smart one would either, unless he was trying to become a daddy! Heat breaks down the latex, and carrying them around in your pocket or wallet is not recommended if you want them to retain structural integrity.

I was sort of thinking this, but truly could not remember. That was 45+ years ago & God knows sometimes I can not remember what I did 45 days ago.:eek::confused::confused::rolleyes::rolleyes:

...& woman were not nearly liberated enough to carry them in their purse. :p:p:p

Who says a guy has to be the one who's carrying? Babies aren't the only things women can carry, you know. :joyful:
