German Officers Sword...BUT IS IT REAL?

Discussion in 'Antique Discussion' started by AlienArtifactZ, Mar 14, 2018.

  1. hey there found this sword and want to buy it, did not see a sheath with it. they are asking 100 bucks. Sword is emblazoned with "in true fashion" on the blade which is an old german/bavarian saying. Not sure on year, or if is even real but i sure think its the real thing...what say you?

The slogan “In Treue fest” was outlawed by the Nazis so pre WWII.
I don’t think this sword was ever officially issued and was probably used in parade by a Bavarian WWI Veterans group.

  4. the sword felt quite solid and balanced, it was not sharp, and there was ZERO play where blade meets hilt. the pommel was tightly fit there was no looseness and I could see on the tip of it where the tang was smashed down and fitted.

Im wondering about the ribbon on it, it looked pretty new so it may have just been an add on? IDK

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

The sword knot does look newer.....& the blade is only good for parades......& the plating on the guard is in rougher shape than I'd expect for real weapon....

    I can't say for sure....but I have my doubts...

    Sorry I was eating! :)
Nice sword! Nothing wrong with it. Grip is in shark or ray skin.
Price is ok, but would still try to get 25 off.
Hard to say how old exactly, but to me some where in the region of 1905 to 1930.
If the knot is original to it, the color makes me think; customs.
    But need to confirm that.
Could be worn by many different services in uniform.
I need some specialized help on that one myself.
