@daveydempsey, If it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get off the Fridge door, does that mean it's probably a neodymium magnet???? I have to take a table knife and really pry it off.......

    Hi Spring,
I still think cleaning coins is a no no unless it is just dirt. If corrosion is present soaking in olive oil for a few weeks or so is okay. just do not try and get a brillent shine to old coins.

My magnets (they came in a set) are about the size of small marshmallows and they're INCREDIBLY strong!! If I had enough of them, I could re-align the rotational axis of the earth!

They are very strong, you cannot magnetise another piece of metal with them like you can with a standard magnet.
Don`t put them near smart phones or car remotes they can wipe the information from them.

Any magnet can be used to make ferrous items magnetic

The neos can scramble the magnetic strip on your credit card

If you have an old CRT TV you can move the image on the screen with them

Many fakes are cast. The only real coins that I know that were cast is the old Chinese cash coins.

I decided that perhaps the two magnets together weren't giving me the results that I wanted. After a LOT of effort, I ripped them apart and tried the coin test again. Both coins on just ONE of my RE magnets.

Same reaction for both coins. There is a minute amount of magnetism. You can feel it when you put the coin on top and then shift to an angle, and then the coin slides off the magnet.

that doesn't sound promising....since the one magnet has only half the weight...

It's a pretty decent fake. Look at the hair bow/tie.

In that case I'll just toss it out then.

no u won't.......you'll frame them and keep them as a reminder that none of us r perfect.....and we all learn new stuff all the time.....and taking someone elses word....who's trying to sell us something....is to be taken with a grain of salt.....

Bah, happens to the best of us. I keep them so I don't make the same mistake twice. Although even some of the fakes/reproductions are worth at least $5-$10. Some people like to have them as placeholders.
