I think this is what they are called, bisque porcelain. I am not sure but I got them today from an estate sale off the kitchen counter, thought they where cute.
They have that cool porcelain feel with a satin frost look.
The lady in her 60's said they where her Mothers.

Anybody know who made them ?

    Thank You

Hi Billy! They are cute. Really do not know anything about them, but they are similar to a pair I had years ago. Boy and girl figures that were made of "salt".

If I remember correctly mine were book ends and their clothing represented an earlier time. Dressed in blue I think. Even tho I didn't abuse them, they didn't last for very long.

But maybe yours aren't "salt" figures. Yours look to be in good shape and if on the kitchen counter for a number of years, they had to have been moved around quite a bit. I don't see any damage in the photos.

I think the last response suggests fine rock salt.

    Hi,
They were called salt figures but I believe they are magnesium sulfate which was cast into molds. That is why they dissolve in water. Taste them they do not tasty salty but very bitter instead.

I don't recommend using the taste test while still at the antique mall. That's how you end up getting a reputation.

    Hi,
When the "new" 1986 Fiesta came out the only way you could tell the old from the new was the old tongue trick. You run your tongue over the unglazed rim. if your tongue stuck slightly the Fiesta was old if your tongue slipped easily it was the new.
Saw a lot of people licking the Fiesta!!!!!!:):):):)
