Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Hi....I've had this bottle/flask since being a kid and finding it with another kid in the early or mid 'fifties on Block Island in an old abandoned, decrepit farmhouse, which was slightly later torn down (so, glad I rescued it!!!).....it is 6 3/4" tall and 4 1/2" wide at the widest, amberish/greenish in color, has a Cornucopia on one side and a vase of fruit on the other side. I find no markings, there is no printing, and I don't believe there are any chips or cracks on it anywhere! Seems to me, once I found a rough valuation online a few years ago of +/- $200. value......but not remembering that perfectly and of course, I didn't write it down!!!! Gave eBay a look.....did not see one just like it....sold or otherwise.....so, here is the subject matter! AS ALWAYS, ANY AND ALL INPUT, MOST GRATEFULLY RECEIVED AND APPRECIATED!!!! Thank you!!!!!

After glancing through McKearin's American Glass, it looks like it may be a G III-4 cornucopia flask by Coventry Glass Works. Here's mention of one in a blog with a photo of both sides to compare with yours.

    Hi,
15 years I saw one like yours go for 1100 dollars. I bid the price up to 700 but refused to go higher.

Don't I wish I had had one with a label!!!!! SO cool!!! Now I still have to find an approximate current price listing....will keep looking! Thanks again!!

Hi @gregsglass, I would probably pass out if I ever had seen one like this go for that kind of $$!!!!!! Just drop me a check....I'll have it well wrapped for you!!!!!!!!!! Just KIDDING!!!! But I am looking to sell it, which is why I'm starting to dig for valuation!!! Am not going to "unload" anything before I know the approximate value of what I'll be trying to sell!!!!:D:D:D

BTW, @Huntingtreasure, I looked up Calabash: ('cuz I didn't know!!!!) : Calabash bottles are large, gourd or pear shaped bottles (sometimes called flasks also) which were quite popular during the mid 19th century, i.e., 1840s to around 1870. The name presumably originates from the resemblance of these bottles to the hard shelled, gourd-like fruits of the tropical American "calabash tree" - Crescentia cujete (Gilman & Watson 1993). Calabash bottles as a group are lumped together in most peoples minds by their shape but are actually classified in McKearin & Wilson (1978) by what is portrayed via the embossing so they fall out in many groups. The origin of this distinctive bottle shape is attributed to Philadelphia mold maker Philip Doflein who reportedly created the first calabash bottle mold in the 1840s (WheatonArts website - www.wheatonarts.org - 2009).
