I have had this for awhile and always thought of it to be junk. However, I just had it tested and the chain (has no clasp) is pure 100% silver and the talon is sterling. There are no markings whatsoever, looks handmade. I don't know if it is real turquoise though because it doesn't look like the typical turquoise I usually see. Thoughts?

The sterling in the pendant is full of porosity and the piece looks like it was made at a back street vendor by a 12 year old.

I think it's supposed to be a bear claw. It might be sand cast.

Looks like an E or F mark on the from of the claw holder.

Since the pendant is made with at least 4 pieces of silver it's probably not sand cast.

It is not the best silverwork, but about the stone:
    - Is it cold to the touch?
    - Do you have a diamond tester?

It's so uniform in color it doesn't look like real turquoise. I'd expect real turquoise to be in a better setting.

There is a lot of Persian turquoise which looks like the op's pendant, solid color and bright blue without matrix.Probably thousands or pieces with real turquoise in $3.00 sterling rings etc.
