Primitive looking wood item from India

    I'm not sure I understand how it's supposed to work exactly. I had wondered if the holes in the side act to broadcast seeds and the tripod just holds it upright. It looks too labor intensive to me too. Four people? Unless the ground is really hard I'd think one person with a sharp stick and a handful of seeds would do as well. But what do I know.

    Think the holes in the side are probably for mounting it to the contraption with rope. Could see how this could help efficiency with a well coordinated team. The three holes in the bottom distribute seed to three rows being plowed at the same time. Saw some that would do 4 at a time.

    I saw a different style machine ( will try to make copy) the holes on yours have extra sort of slats, maybe paddes of sorts would spread the seeds further.
