Primitive looking wood item from India

Picked up this odd wood thing from the thrift for a couple dollars. Had an import tag from India but that is all I know about it. It is 6" diameter and 4 1/4" tall. The top interior is hollowed out in a cone shape that has a sharpish wood protrusion in the center. This is surrounded by three holes that go off in angles such that they come out lined up on the bottom. These holes are tapered so that the diameter at the top is smaller than at the bottom. The side of this thing has three bow-tie shaped cut-outs. The inside of the end of the bow-tie is drilled horizontally through to the next bow-tie. Each is connected by a drill hole in this manner. It is decorated as seen. There is the shield shape carved in one side. The other side is just carved with an oval. Hope I have described this sufficiently. Any ideas?

I'll start with the "wild guesses"
    Incense burner.

Boy that's a challenge. I started with the hub for a three legged stool/table/stand but the way it's grooved I wonder if it has anything to do with spinning.

Thanks! Not sure how this works as a seed sower but will try to research further along those lines. Seems to be a very good possibility.

Am finding more listed as seed drills. Still don't know how it works but it does seem to be a seed planting implement.

I'm very curious about how it would work too. Have you dropped some seeds, rice or something in and see what happens?

In the link SIS attached, there is a brief description in the listing. It says that is part of the actual sowing machine. very interesting.

I guess I read that when I posted it but with limited understanding and didn't follow the link. When I did I found these photos.

Quite labor intensive it seems. Thanks for the pics. They are worth MORE than a thousand words! Now I see!

Did not read the entire listing or follow the link either. Makes a lot of sense now. I am guessing the three rods seen in the contraption are tubes for the seeds to fall down? Would think it would take some skill to feed the seeds at the correct rate.
