Oh my, that's a sweet little chair! There was a book on Dutch silver miniatures that came out a few years ago, called 'Tall and Small: Antique Dutch Silver Miniatures', associated with an exhibit at The Hague - been keeping an eye out, but so far, doesn't seem to have made its way to the US.

Johnny - I have a vague memory of you having a rather wonderful miniature silver tea set or the like at some point? Or am I mistaken? Or you sold it? Darned dead brain cells...

    It is from a book.:)
The date letters are also in the link Houseful posted, but the shapes of those are a bit blurred. Would you like me to take more photos, also of the other letters, for reference? (In better light ;))

That would be great. Thankyou. Most of the resources I have seen stop in the 1950’s and your photo looks like they go later than that.

Yes, they do, 1988 I believe. I'll get on it tomorrow, when they switch that big light in the sky on again.:)

So, I was wandering eBay, looking at Dutch silver, ran across this pretty little chair, and now it's mine - does appear the date letter is up at the left of the Minerva-head, pretty badly obscured but looks like it's probably the 1890 'F', assay-office letter looks like the Leeuwarden 'F'.

    Nice and shiny now:

Have another Dutch miniature chair of the same age packed away somewhere, but it's quite different, so couldn't resist - have a Chinese Export miniature chair too, so suppose with three, now I have another darned collection...

Not mine, but just like the other Dutch chair I have:

Oh, and AJ kindly sent me a link to the book I mentioned - it's been mailed in the Netherlands, but will likely take a while to get here - thanks so much!

Yay! It is a beauty, and so is the other one.
That is the way it goes, you never mean to, but it happens because something is simply irresistible.:angelic:
Now you need a table, a coffee service, another chair to make up the foursome......
And something to display it all in, of course:

    You're welcome.:)

That is probably the most famous of Dutch 17th century doll's houses, it was made for collector Petronella Oortman.
More detailed photo here, and you can zoom into the different rooms:
