I found this today at a thrift store & fell in love with the colors; probably because my teen years were during the 70's! ( Also see 2nd photo taken inside how much more the colors "pop"!). I believe I found the artist - Helene Janow. It is from 1970 - and looks it! Is there a more descriptive title I can call it instead of 'floral painting'? Thank you for any advice.
You saw these prints of hers? https://www.antiquesmodern.com/catalogues/2017-01-07/view.php?id=268 Debora
currently on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-M...458281?hash=item5d3c874be9:g:2VgAAOxyQj9RR6ZC
I saw the painting on ebay - I like my colors better(!) I know it is a Floral Still Life Debora, maybe Colorful Floral Still Life circa 1970? Just trying to think of a way to convey the unusual...depth(?) range(?) Palette(?) of the colors. Maybe Floral Still Life with a Palette of Colors of the Rainbow?
She lived in New Jersey. Think place of residence (Woodstock being an artist's colony, et.al.) Other works of hers floating around on internet have her business card on back but, sadly, no one has included close-up. As to title, how about... Abstract? Bright pastel? Mid-century? Debora
This eBay work is one with her business card. Perhaps, if the seller is kind, s/he'd share via close-up photograph. Debora
Agree that her name is the key but I’d play with Vintage Cool Tone Modernist MCM Abstract 2 Pots Flowers Floral Still Life.
Helene Janow was my piano teacher in the 70's We lived across the street from her in Landing, NJ. My sister and I have a few of her pieces. She was a lovely woman and taught me life lessons I still use today. Her studio was downstairs and was a beautiful space. We used to look at all of her works over and over again. Oil, block, abstract, watercolor, mixed medium. Our parents were very close to Helene and Syd (Mr. Janow) We spent a lot of time with them. Wonderful memories!
She lived on Matthew Ct. in Landing, NJ. We grew up right across the street from her. Her studio was in the basement.
