Maple Chest - Age?

Jacon4 On the pic you sent,, look carefully at where the dovetails meet the drawer front ! Second dovetail in particular,, I can see dark space where it should be attached to the front ! I mean the purpose of the dovetails is to secure the front to the case ! Does it look to you like the drawer fronts have been replaced ? Would like to see the other drawer to compare !

They could be, hard to say with just photos alone. Furniture just doesn't photograph well, never has.

I try to embrace change, why fight the inevitable? although I do agree, it is often easier said than done, that's for sure.
Way past time for Martha to get off her stump and visit the puter store!

 

Here are a couple more shots of the dovetails. The first shot is one of the full drawers and the second is one of the half drawers. And, yes, it does appear to have been painted at one time.
